Message from your host, Karen E.: I am hosting a candlelight vigil in Westfield to remember and honor the victims of this horrific shooting in CT and bring awareness to gun violence and mental illness. As a Westfield mother of 2 children, I cannot sit back and do nothing. We need to come together to remember the victims of Newtown a...(more)nd bring awareness to ending gun violence in our country. It is tearing us apart.
I invite you to join me and my children and come to Mindowaskin Park today at 4:30 for a candlelight vigil. Bring a candle, your beloved children, bring a sign, bring your prayers --- bring whatever is in your heart to come together to try honor the families of these victims and bring awareness to the horror of gun violence in our country. This has to end. No one needs assault weapons to protect themselves -- or to hunt. They fall into the hands too too easily of those whose minds we can't understand but now have the wherewithall to mass murder because of the availability of these weapons and ammunition. 100 ROUNDS of ammunition were fired. 100 rounds. No one anywhere should have access to that, yet right here in NJ I'm sure it's not that hard to find.
Whatever your feelings are, at the very least we need to remember these innocent victims.
