What's An Ideal MoveOn Council?
Leadership Heavy: Multiple Core members are experienced in and capable of organizing events.
Rapid Response Ready: Council core understands and buys into the strategy of rapid response, and is ready to hold rapid response actions when needed.
Community-Oriented: The council functions as a social network and is continually building its base.
Leadership heavy:
* Multiple core members are experienced in organizing events: they understand the process and roles needed to hold a good event.
* Council Coordinator understands role as organizer, and not activist. The CC recruits and trains core members in event organizing, media, recruitment etc.
* Long term plan to develop council that core is invested in: e.g recruitment goals for growing media team, recruiting RR coordinators, % of media coverage.
* CC holds people accountable to their role.
* Core understands 5/Gold council.
Rapid Response Ready:
* Belief in RR amongst core group.
* Core members lined up who can organize RR actions e.g. RR hosts, RR media team etc.
* Prepped logistics and materials e.g. local sites to hold events, good media list, signs.
Community-Oriented:
* Council holds social get-togethers, get together in person to prepare for events and debrief, and just socialize outside of monthly event.
* Coordinator focuses on continually involving new people, to avoid clique formation.
* Council core and other council members identify themselves as part of the council publicly, and feel a sense of connection to MoveOn councils nationally.
